Dungeon Powder Storage
During the Revolutionary War in the northeast corner of the dungeon, 10,000 pounds of
gunpowder were secretly stored by General William Moultrie, realizing that the
British were soon to take Charles Town.  He had the area bricked in to look like an exterior
wall and created the secret room.  The British occupied the building for two and a half years
and never discovered the gunpowder.
